Jane FISHER (1858-1944)
Jane Fisher
was born in 1858 at Stonegravels in Chesterfield.
Her father was an ironstone miner and her mother’s maiden
name was Elizabeth Garrard. I do not know for certain but
in the 1881 Census there was a Jane Fisher who gives her age
as 23, her place of birth Chesterfield and who at the time
was a Cook Domestic Servant in the household of George Ludshall
at 2 Hyde Terrace in London.
In 1883 Jane FISHER (a spinster) married Edgar HARROLD
at the Independent Chapel, Soresby Street, Chesterfield. Edgar
and Jane HARROLD had six children:
Mabel
was born in 1884, married Walter Longden in 1905 and died in
1958 in Hasland.

Ethel was born in1886, married Albert Wheatcroft in 1910 and died in
1961.

Bernard was born in 1888 and died aged 6 months - he is buried in Hasland Cemetery.

Dorothy
was born in 1890 and was known in the
family as Dora. She died in 1967.
|
Oliver was born in 1893. He died in the Chesterfield
Royal Hospital in 1940 and was buried in the same grave
as his father in Hasland Cemetery.

Douglas was born in 1896 and died at 30 Smithfield
Avenue, Hasland in 1947.

Jane HARROLD
was a widow for 29 years. She lived at 49 Storforth Lane for
most of that time and next door at 47 lived her daughter Ethel
and her family - it was a joined semi-detached house. For
some time her eldest daughter Mabel lived opposite them at
number 48.
Jane HARROLD
died in 1944 aged 85. She is buried in the same
grave as her husband and son in Hasland Cemetery.
